Augmented Reality

AR technology is an exciting and relatively new application within the field of cultural heritage. It allows 3D models to be viewed in a real world context through a mobile device such as a smart phone or tablet.

The 3D object can be attached to a printable QR code (like an electronic stamp) which can be easily placed in an environment to act as a trigger for the 3D model. This technology is currently being used by the Royal Ontario Museum at their Ultimate Dinosaurs exhibition
